About

Hello. I am Handan Süreyya AYSUN.

I am a Clinical Psychologist and a Psychoanalytic Candidate with advanced training in psychoanalytic theory, clinical practice, existential psychotherapy, psychosis, personality organization, trauma, and the relationship between psychic life and bodily experience.

My clinical and academic work lies at the intersection of psychoanalysis, Western and Eastern existential thought, psychopathology, philosophy, and contemporary approaches to the mind–body relationship. Alongside my psychoanalytic training at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis, I have completed graduate training in psychotherapy and clinical psychology.

My academic interests include psychosis and symbolization, personality organization, psychoanalytic approaches to mood disorders and dissociation, psychosomatic phenomena, psycho-neuro-endocrine and immune processes, and the relationship between individual and collective psychic life.

Through long-term seminars and study groups, I have taught psychoanalytic and existential theory, clinical case formulation, Winnicottian thought, embodiment, philosophy and psychoanalysis, and advanced psychoanalytic approaches.

On this site you can find information about my professional background, my education, and ways to contact me.
